Living the Dream Right Now
Right now I am eating Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream from the BYU Creamery with a fork in my bed. You could say life is good - but that might be an understatement.
Over the past couple of weeks I've been reflecting on my time here at BYU. Attending school here has always been the dream. (Literally. I told my first grade teacher that I wanted to get good grades and get into BYU). And here I am wondering, "Have I been living the dream that I so fiercely pursued?"
In some ways, a big 'ABSOLUTELY YES' is called for. In others ways, a shocking 'no' is a fitting response. As a precursory defense: this college deal is a whole lot harder than I anticipated and a lot faster than anyone ever expressed.
When I think back to my BYU Bucket List-making Freshman self, I honestly think I would make her proud. No, I have not gone on a date with a member of BYU Vocal Point, nor have I seen the world on a study abroad, but I AM dating someone who has some pretty great boy bandesque dance moves, I AM on Service Council and I DO have remarkable friends that have opened my eyes and continuously make my life incredibly happy.
So what if living out my BYU dream isn't entirely what I imagined? What if I spend more Saturdays writing papers and doing laundry than taking spontaneous road trips like I planned?
Right now is everything I have ever wanted my life to be - I just didn't know it.
So cheers to living the hardest, best, most unexpected, worthwhile, monotonous dream out there. Right now, I wouldn't alter it for anything.
As Always,
Alesha
PS. Isn't fall the best time of the year?
Noteable: While I was writing this post, a person was practicing the bagpipes in the park behind my house. Go friend, live YOUR dream.
