My 2018 Formula.
I've been trying to settle on a word for 2018, but there wasn't a single word that felt adequate. How do you choose a theme for a year that is going to be spent finishing school and then potentially moving away for a job? It's exciting. It's terrifying. It's happening.
There's no way to describe or prepare for the life experiences we're expecting this year. So, instead, a formula to guide us through this year:
hard work + prioritizing = a bright future.
This year, we will both be graduating. But first, we have to complete capstones (mine is unexpectedly in witchcraft??) and international internships (T is heading to China!), interviews and lotssss of papers. It is going to be a lot of hard work. But we think it will be worth it to endure and to finish laying these final stones in the foundation we've been building for future success. The goal here, then, is to finish strong. We've been living the dream & we're about to close the book on this chapter -- we want to write a story we can always be proud of. (Part of me knows that we will fondly miss our small apartment that we spent HOURS studying on adjacent couches in).
It is so easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of life. We've both got a lot going on and I'm worried that if we don't prioritize God and each other in 2018, we will miss out on a lot. So, I'm going to focus on prioritizing. I'm not sure how this will look in actuality, but I'm thinking it will include pauses to dance to the Backstreet Boys in our living room and pauses to be quiet and listen to the Spirit. Hopefully prioritizing will help the important things remain important and help the other things fall away.
Here's to a hopeful formula for a bright 2018 and the future beyond that.
As Always,
Alesha
